The kid sickens, drawing the attention of the father, who insists Marion take a hiatus from partying to play nursemaid. Marion ignores this request, then the kid dies, causing what might be an un-mendable rift in the marriage. The story is flagrantly sentimental, but impressive for its composition and use of cross-cutting for the time. Marion Leonard sometimes goes a bit overboard, but James Kirkwood is pretty good. On the whole, this is one of the better Griffith domestic melodramas...."
