"W. Chrystie Miller has been a parson for a long time. Now that he is dying, he wishes his son, Joseph Graybill, to follow in his footsteps. But Graybill is more interested in getting drunk in saloons. 1910 had been a great year for director D. W. Griffith, and by the end of it, he had just about all his techniques running in apple-pie order. That doesn't mean that every movie was a classic, and this is one that isn't. I don't object, as another reviewer does, to the preachy nature of the story. What I object to is the casting of Graybill, a competent player but not one of Griff..."
