"A very good film, perhaps the best in the Edison Company's fine series of historical pictures. The British general, Tarlton, is proposing to ride quickly with his cavalry to Charlotteville, Va., where the Virginia Assembly is in session, and capture it together with Thomas Jefferson. We see him and his finely mounted troopers start out along the roads. But a patriot, on a superb mount, knows his purpose and makes a dash across country. This gives beautiful (the photograph work is all fine) views of Virginia hills, meadows, farms and woodland. Included is a view of "Monticello." ..."
