"The Navy wants a new gun. While factory owner Harry Weaver is laid up at home with the gout, his manager, Brandon Hurst goes to draftsman Paul McAllister. McAllister has designed a gun according to the specifications. Hurst points out he's not due any money other than his salary. But if he allows Hurst to put a phony name on it, he'll pay McAllister $1,200 for each gun manufactured. McAllister, a scruffy-looking fellow, agrees.
