Jack Betson, leaving for a hunting trip in the mountains, goes to his father's office in his hat factory to bid him good-bye. A fine figure in his hunting clothes, he is photographed, while there, to illustrate a hat advertisement. Alice Van Zant is being hard pressed by her suitors but they, one and all, fail to touch the responsive chord in Alice's heart. Alec Danvera, however, is not easily discouraged and forces his attentions on Alice to an ever increasing degree. Alice plans a trip into the mountains and Alec becomes one of the party. Glancing through a magazine one day, Alice notices the hat advertisement, and at once is struck by the good looking young man illustrating it. She declares to one of her girl friends that there at last is the man whom she could love, and when chance happens to throw Jack Betson in her path, up in the mountains, they become fast friends. In the meantime, Alec has grown very disagreeable and one day out in the woods, he openly abuses Alice. She screams in fright, and to her rescue comes Jack, who promptly takes matters into his own hands and proceeds to give Alec a thrashing. Alice falls unconscious and recovering finds herself in Betson's arms, on the way to the hotel. Love steps in and before long the pair are betrothed, whereupon Betson reveals his own wealth and standing, and all ends happily.
