Fish Aren&apos;t The Only Smelly Things

Young Cicero is told to go fishing with his father. While Jeff does some actual fishing until he is caught by a tree-climbing trout, daddy Mutt finds a pretty young lady to flirt with.... at least until Cicero brings along a pretty skunk to show the snogging couple.

Bud Fisher is the sole credited individual in this cartoon. However, it seems unlikely he had anything do with it. At this point, it was considered wiser have the man who created Mutt &amp; Jeff credited with the efforts.

For 1920 this is a good cartoon, but the form would begin to evolve rapidly. Movie cartoons had already become their own genre when Bray began in 1913. Hearst had begun producing cartoons based on popular comic strips. Once uncredited people like Charley Bowers began to take over, they would become much wilder.
