💡 Did You Know?

Mack Sennett intended this film to be Keystone's first entry out of the comedy genre and into drama. When it was previewed (as "Heart Balm"), however, audiences howled with laughter, much to Sennett's embarrassment. Not one to let embarrassment stand in the way of making a buck, however, he did some rewriting, performed some judicious editing, changed the title and released it as a comedy. None of the changes worked, however, and the film was one of Sennett's bigger flops.
