"A tremendous showcase for the greatest of canine performers. The movie only falls short in the idiotic slapstick by Heinie Conklin. A young Charles Farrell does a decent job as the human lead, and June Marlowe is excellent and very natural as his girl. But it's Rin Tin Tin who steals the show and the hearts of the audience as a half breed wolf dog who learns the ways of civilization. Clash of the Wolves (1925) was transferred onto 16mm film by Associated Artists Productions in the 1950s and shown on television. A copy (nitrate projection print) of the film was found in a somewhat compromised state in South Africa. It was repatriated through the American Film Institute to the Library of Congress. Heavy scratches on the print were minimized in the 2003 preservation on the film.
