"It all starts when Ian Hunter, scion of the 400 marries a lady of the theater, shocking sisters Dorothy Peterson and Zasu Pitts.... actually, Miss Pitts isn't shocked. She wanted a career in the show business, but it was unthinkable. Hunter leaves the house, and in a few years has a motherless daughter in Pat Paterson, who wants to go into show business, which he forbids. She defies him, and begins a romance with Kenny Baker, son of Leo Carillo, one-time street musician and now chef. 52nd Street west of 5th Avenue begins as a domain of the 400, but by the time the movie is halfway over, ..."
