"I would bet Edward Streeter was inspired by this comedy short (written by Robert Benchley) to write his popular novel, FATHER OF THE BRIDE, about a decade later. Taking it one step further, screenwriters Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett added their touches (with Benchley in mind) to create the memorable Spencer Tracy film in 1950. It all fits. Robert (or Mr. Doakes) has only a scant 10 minutes(!) to describe his plight (via flashback!) as the bewildered bride's father, however you won't forget it.
