"Jim Dandy winds up in the old west, hornswoggled into buying a stolen horse, and romancing Prunella, the rancher's daughter. It's the first Puppetoon George Pal did for Paramount. More formally, they were offered as 'Madcap Models.' In sum, they are stop-motion cartoons. Pal had been turning them out since 1934, often for advertising Phillips products. Here, we get a funny burlesque of westerns. Pal was the most cartoonish of the stop-motion guys; Willis O'Brien and later Ray Harryhausen strove to produce things that looked like they might exist, but Pal hired writer..."
