The whole concept of the movie is him suddenly changing from those characteristics to become quite the opposite, dealing with some smugglers, after becoming indebted to them. That's also what the title is referring to, which means in English: The Scary Change of Alex Roscher. All that leads up to a big twist, you can probably guess right now.
