"Another film watched for the "House of Hammer" podcast, "Meet Simon Cherry" is yet another early Hammer adaptation of a successful radio series, though one I hadn't heard of. It's transformed here into a middling film, one which had sections I enjoyed but large stretches that I did not. Based on a very popular BBC radio programme of the 1940s called 'Meet the Rev', in which a Father Brown-style clergyman solves crimes when he isn't saving souls. The film wasn't very successful so a series didn't follow (although the character did appear briefly on television). Gale Pedrick, creator of the radio series, co-scripted the film with director Godfrey Grayson.
