"Films about ballet tend to get rather melodramatic and this is no exception, cramming an awful lot of plot into just 87 minutes until it's rather abrupt and contrived ending. It provides the novelty of Mai Zetterling in a tutu, while Terence Morgan as usual plays a good-looking jerk; although the fulcrum of the plot, little Mandy Miller (then billed simply as 'Mandy') is given disappointingly little to do until well into the final third...."

Wearing the smallest bikini she could find, she was hired for a bit part in the play Wish You Were Here at the London Casino in 1953. She was only nineteen.
