"This is a beautiful movie. Joking aside, this is a marvelous depiction of Love (Unrequited or not. I'll spare you the details in order to not spoil it). Great acting performance by Mastroianni. There is nothing pompous or flashy in his acting, he is not the typical male character of this era. He's vulnerable, sweet and sincere, not being afraid to show his feelings. This is something we take for granted, but in that era, i think it was revolutionary. However, it's not only him. Schell's acting is on the same level.
