I enjoyed watching &quot;Arzt aus Leidenschaft&quot; (A Doctor of Conviction). The story is about Wolfgang Friedberg (Klausjurgen Wussow), who is an extremely talented doctor who puts his heart and soul into medical research. However, he obtained his doctorate many years ago using forged certificates from another student (Jan Hendriks), who is now blackmailing him with demands for money. Other people, such as the head nurse (Ellen Schwiers) at the clinic, are joining in the blackmail to secure their own piece of the pie. The film is the second adaptation of the novel by the now forgotten writer Karl Unselt, who was once the author of popular books and also studied medicine. The plot is rather typical of popular pre-World War II literature, and the film perhaps does not have much depth. However, the story is engaging, the characters are clearly outlined, and the acting is good, so for me it was good entertainment. Additionally, I liked the note of optimism with the belief that every person should be given a second chance in life because none of us is perfect.
