A playful short film made in the style of a trailer for a fictional feature film that seems to be a spoof of films that were popular in Japan at the time.

Short, odd, and quite fun.

I&apos;m kind of surprised this is as old as it is, because it&apos;s really playful as a parody that doesn&apos;t feel very 1950s to me; even late &apos;50s. But I guess that&apos;s Nags Oshima for you; he was never really easy to pin down as a filmmaker, and kind of did whatever he wanted. Remarkably, the risks he took paid off way more often than not (at least from what I&apos;ve seen), and seeing this fake trailer/short film is another reminder that I should well check out more of his stuff. I don&apos;t remember how big his filmography is, but it could even be one worth completing at some point.

Anyway, Tomorrow&apos;s Sun was a whirlwind ride and I didn&apos;t really know what was going on, but it was shot well and fun, and I liked how weird it generally was. It&apos;s kind of disappointing that it didn&apos;t end up being a trailer for an actual movie that was like six hours long and attempted to be every single genre at once. People probably weren&apos;t ready back then; even now, maybe they still wouldn&apos;t be.
