"I'm kind of surprised this is as old as it is, because it's really playful as a parody that doesn't feel very 1950s to me; even late '50s. But I guess that's Nags Oshima for you; he was never really easy to pin down as a filmmaker, and kind of did whatever he wanted. Remarkably, the risks he took paid off way more often than not (at least from what I've seen), and seeing this fake trailer/short film is another reminder that I should well check out more of his stuff. I don't remember how big his filmography is, but it could even be one worth completing at some..."
