Dark comedy with plenty of humor, parody, murders, and eccentric incidents. This is one of the best Spanish black comedies of all time with dark humor , frantic situations and awesome performances. This is a period film with a good comedic tone, which is greatly elevated by the splendid interpretations of an all-star cast for the time. Based on the play of the same name by playwright Alfonso Paso; screenwriter and director Luis Marquina makes a good adaptation thanks to the hilarious dialogue and excellent casting led by a brilliant Fernando Fernán Gómez, and likeable Silvia Pinal, being very well supported by a great secondary cast, providing appreciable direction within a convincing theatrical tone that enhances its great popular appeal. The film is quite reminiscent of, and in a similar style to, ¨Frank Capra&apos;s Arsenic and Old Lace¨ (1944), which also features a charming married couple in a house full of murderous family members. Top-notch Fernando Fernán Gómez and Silvia Pinal , they give authentic comedy recitals, they put faces , grimaces , and overacting but they are frankly splendid. Along with them, a large plethora of the best secondaries at the time, such as: José Luis López Vázquez, Catalina Bárcena, Manuel Collado, Carmen Bernardos, Amparo Baró, Antonio Ferrandis, José Orjas, Francisco Bernal, Rufino Inglés, Santiago Ontañon, among others.
