"Wenn die Heide Blüht - when the heath was in blossom in the 50's and 60's you could be sure that another film in the Heimatfilm genre (sub genre: Heidefilm - Heath film) would be made in West Germany, whether there was a decent script or not. Hans Deppe made the classic and proto-typical Heidefilm "Grün ist die Heide" in 1951 and this one can be considered a try to link up with that his first success.
