After the film crew was thrown out of East Prairie, Missouri by the town's Chief of Police (for supposedly being "Communists"), the film's producer/director, Roger Corman, realized that he needed one more wide shot of the high school. He and an assistant went back into the town and hurriedly filmed the shot. The Chief of Police somehow must have found out that both of them were there, as he was seen by Corman driving up in the distance. Corman and his assistant quickly threw both the camera and the equipment into their car and just as quickly drove away in the opposite direction, unharmed.
