Tom Selleck was cheated out of the pilot and series on CBS. According to Tom Selleck on the Merv Griffin show : In 1979 the Movie "Concrete Cowboys" starred Tom Selleck (as Will Ewbanks ) and Jerry Reed. Later there was a spin off-TV series called "Concrete Cowboys " starring lookalike Geoffrey Scott (as Will Ewbanks) and Jerry Reed, but lasted only a short time on CBS in 1981. The producers, networks, directors never told Selleck, they just waited for him to hear it from his manager. Fortunately Magnum P.I. came later.
