Viva Vaccaro!
"Pilot for the short-lived CBS-TV series--starring Brenda Vaccaro and based on the French film "Dear Inspector" from 1977--was co-written by its director, Dean Hargrove, who has a very droll sense of humor (his bantering dialogue is fast and dry--it may not seem like much, but you might catch yourself smiling while thinking it over later). Vaccaro never really fit into any conventional Hollywood mold. Terrific early spots in "Midnight Cowboy" and "Going Home" didn't quite afford her a following, but an Oscar nomination for 1975's "Once Is Not Enough&..."
