"This was sheer brilliance. Writers from "Not the Nine O'Clock News" and "Alas Smith & Jones" were involved in writing for this one. One of my favourite sketches was the guys in the Indian restaurant trying to impress the girl by eating the hottest curry. Favourite song was Pope's "Humans are stupid" sung by dolphins...."
💡 Did You Know?
The show was originally intended for ITV, made by Thames Television. When a 30 minute pilot was made, Thames executives were so shocked by the content they refused to broadcast the pilot and cancelled the proposed series. Shortly afterwards, Jimmy Mulville and Rory Mcgrath broke into the office of the head of comedy at Thames and stole a tape of the pilot, he had in his desk. They secretly showed it to Channel Four, who then commissioned a full series.
