"This is a well-acted, although somewhat brief film, about a courageous youth in Australia, just before the outbreak of World War I, who refused to comply with mandatory conscription at a time when conscientious objection was not an option. There are three drawbacks to the movie. 1) The actors' Australian accents coupled with the movie's mediocre sound quality made it difficult for this American to understand the dialogue at times. 2) C.O.s were treated more brutally during World War I than this film depicts. 3) The ending left me unsatisfied.
