"Yes, it probably shouldn't be rated so high since it is a bit dull and the girls are rather interchangeable fodder but I love the practical FX. If you're looking for something like The Thing made in Japan in the 80s, this is the closest you're going to find. I wish there was a 10-hour making of documentary on it. I'm just a crazy huge fan. If you have high expectations, you'll be disappointed so it's best to go in thinking you'll see absolute crap then you might come out ok.
