"LOVE AND SEX AMONG THE RUINS is, despite the bizarre title, a rather mundane relationship drama that shines a spotlight on love, sex, and dating in mid 1990s Hong Kong. It feels much like the kind of Western fare you'd get from the era, such as MY SO-CALLED LIFE and TEACHERS. Despite the sexual content, this is a rather tame and timid production, although I suppose a few scenes of lesbian kissing would have been considered controversial once upon a time. The characters are pretty bland and there are no particularly funny moments here, so it's a bit of a drag...."
