Interstellar Anamorphic Guardians

This game is one of my favorite video games of all time. This game is based on an graphic novel and animated show that I thought was awesome it was sort of a anamorphic &quot;Guardians of the Galaxy&quot; and &quot;Firefly&quot;, it was a strange but cool idea that unfortunately was taken too soon before it could truly go up the stratosphere, though may &apos;be it still can if anyone ever considers the idea of a revival.

This game it one of those that takes its cues from &quot;Mega Man&quot; but that never bothers me as long as it&apos;s a good game; so yeah nothing new but everything done right. The graphical animation is solid from the character animation to even the interstellar environments really bringing out the essence of the series, and the control is solid to.

But of course, the real highlight is in the gameplay which is great. I really like how after you rescue you buddies you can switch your characters as each of the characters have different abilities, strengths and weaknesses. All of them are useful in one way or another depending on what the situation dictates. One unique thing is how each of the characters have a charge function when fully charged each of the characters can execute a secondary ability which really helps in putting you a step up in the game.

This I thought was cool and is also was a couple of years before the charge function in the &quot;Mega Man&quot; franchise became a feature. I like playing sometimes as the character Willy as he&apos;s armed with an awesome quick laser that when charged discharges and even stronger beam, or sometimes Jenny whom can create mind energy balls that you can control in any direction you want. This really give the game the feeling of a team dynamic much like &quot;G.I. Joe&quot; for the NES which is another favorite game of mine and another story; but also helps in the feel of playing and being in the series.

I really like the format of the game which is much like &quot;Mega Man&quot; where pretty much each panel you go though is always a new challenge which causes you to quickly adapt and think on your feet. There is always something different and exciting in each level, like in one spot there are these roller coasters or even in another where you literally have to jump on asteroids to jump on planets (how the heck the characters are still able to breathe in space is anyone&apos;s guess). There are even some boss battles which are a little challenging though actually easy by their nature if you know how.

But like &quot;Mega Man&quot; this game can be tough; I remember when I first played it as a kid there were some tough spots that just took lots of practice for me to get though. Like those robotic snakes in the Blue Planet, the lava flow maze in the Red Planet, and the Roller Coaster spikes in the Yellow Planet. It&apos;s based on the principle of you can&apos;t expect to get it right the first time, which is why when you play this game it will take practice just to clear one section of the game. But once you do then getting though each section and level it&apos;s rewarding because you know it was your skill and perseverance that payed off. But also, that each of the levels really aren&apos;t that much of a problem to get though after all, it&apos;s the notion of easy if you know how, I can play though each level without dying once or at least not as much as before.

Another big highlight of the game is the music, which is just fantastic, this game has one of the best video game soundtracks I&apos;ve ever heard. From a bit of the theme song, cut scenes, stage select, down to the levels themselves in which each are unique and just spell interstellar action adventure. All the level songs are my favorite and I love to listen to on my iPod or even when I&apos;m doing Martial Arts training (at least the right kind of song for each exercise) as the songs just induces a feeling of excitement.

Overall if you into vintage licensed games or vintage video games in general, like any star ship it&apos;s worth a cruise. Bucky O Hare flies high.
