Sid Marcus had some trouble getting his footing when he first arrived at the Lantz studio, but once he got the hang of it, he made some truly great shorts. While not as good as the efforts from Jack Hannah, Sid Marcus&apos;s attempts to capture the glory days of Woody in a style reminiscent of Looney Tunes, we&apos;re not in vain. &quot;Coy decoy&quot; is a good example of a solid short from Marcus. Animation here is nice, from Ray Abrams and Art Davis, alongside some uniquely breath taking backgrounds. The hunter is sort of bland, not much to him, but the dog is super charming and likable, even if his stupidity is a little over stated. The antics and chemistry between all three characters works well, and there are some solid-great gags in this one. The pacing is also fine, both perfect, but just at the right pace for me. My biggest gripe is the somewhat poor audio mixing, since you can&apos;t hear the hunter&apos;s screaming that well in the ending, and maybe some parts being dragged out a little too long or otherwise bland. But what this cartoons does right it does very well. Overall, a big breathe of fresh air for the time of its release.
