"Salman- DD made several films together since JUDWAA(1997) which was a good comedy and then BIWI No.1 which was okay DULHAN HUM LE JAYENGE(2000) however is too ordinary to speak of The plot is nothing great, though DD's films never have anything great plotwise but here nothing actually stands out The comedy too is too overdone, the sub plot of Deepak Tijori irritates more so after the suspense is unveiled There is lot of portions similar to DIL HAI KI MAANTA NAHIN(1991) the romance, comedy nothing actually stands out There are some few scenes which are funny and the chemistry of Salman..."

This movie was originally called "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi," but director David Dhawan wanted it changed to sound more like a Yashraj film which released this movie. They also wanted a reference to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), whence the story was loosely taken.
