"In a Martial Law ridden Philippines, Four Friends has Four distinct Stories to tell. Each are having a problems and are trying to piece together their position in the world around them. Moral does feel like the first modern Philippine film. Unlike the films of Brocka and Bernal that I had watched, there is a direct quality to Abaya's film that feels entirely hers. Her characters spoke their mind AND has problems way beyond anyone comprehension. I do think, in parts, is that these women are somewhat priviledged BUT their upfront and are willing to be judged.
