Even for what it is, it&apos;s bad.

I don&apos;t need a Z-grade movie with a plot about a female karate champion who&apos;s also undercover somehow because she wants revenge on a bunch of criminals to make total sense, but I need it to be a bit more coherent than Silver. Or Silver could&apos;ve also just been a bit more fun.

It was a bit seedier than I expected, though maybe I should&apos;ve known with that poster. It&apos;s also a Takashi Miike movie, and that&apos;s what he does, but his better movies aren&apos;t just shocking for the sake of being shocking. And then some of his good ones that admittedly are sort of shocking for the sake of being shocking are at least more fun while also being tacky and shocking.

It&apos;s a boring, ugly, clunky, largely incoherent movie. There is some promise early on that it might go somewhere, I&apos;ll begrudgingly acknowledge it&apos;s something to try and be so many things at once when you have no budget to work with, and at least the whole thing clocks in at under 80 minutes. But otherwise, there isn&apos;t really anything good about this, and it&apos;s a stretch to think of even a handful of small positives.

I won&apos;t swear off any more Takashi Miike movies for good just because of Silver, but it does make me feel like I&apos;ve already seen the best of what he&apos;s had to offer, and most of those quite a few years ago at this stage, too. He&apos;s a quantity-over-quality sort of director, having made maybe too many movies (he reached #100 almost a decade ago, and while he was still in his 50s), so I guess some Silvers are to be expected, unfortunately.
