The Deacon Stops the Show

The members of the Anti-Sin League are in conference and are being addressed by Miss Crobar, who exhibits posters advertising a burlesque show. It is decided that the members will view the matinee performance and decide whether the show can be presented to the general public or not. Accordingly they engage a box and view the show with varied emotions; the manager is tipped off that their fate rests with the committee and Maizie, the dancer, directs her efforts in the direction of the box, and much to the elation of the Deacon. He, however, is dragged off by the others to get the sheriff, but manages to elude them and return to the box, where, a few minutes later, he receives a note from Maizie to call at her dressing room. To show that he is a sport, the deacon sallies forth to procure something cool and refreshing and is seen with the tell-tale evidence returning to the stage entrance. The Sheriff finally decides that he will go on and rescue the deacon and close the show, and so he departs. But he is gone so long that the committee decide to investigate for themselves, and discover the Deacon and the Sheriff enjoying themselves with the chorus girls.
