"An English military drama with the Soudan, at the time of Kitchner's second campaign, as its background. It is remarkably well put on. There seems to be so much of the real thing in it that one wonders where the different scenes were found; intelligence and rare good luck must have combined to make them. The story is worthwhile and is admirably brought out, and this, with the freshness of its local interest, the desert life of the Tuaregs, makes it most deeply interesting.
