The Ellis Horse Ranch suffers bad luck and Patricia Ellis, affectionately known as Pat, decides to sell a number of the horses in order to meet a $5,000 note. Ned Bixby, foreman, discovers that the horses have been stolen. When he informs old man Ellis, the latter suffers a stroke. Pat rescues Gladys Rogers, daughter of the town banker, whose horse runs away. Pat sees Rogers, tells him she will have the money for him, and is surprised to see Gladys enter. Gladys, a haughty creature, tells her father about the rescue. Pat is suggested as queen of the coming roundup. Gladys also wants the job. A race is staged between the two, Gladys riding a thoroughbred, while Pat uses a wild mustang. Pat wins, and Gladys insists that Pat will not be queen. She hires ruffians to lure Pat to a cabin. Ned rescues her and discovers that they are the rustlers who are responsible for the theft of their horses. Pat arrives at the rodeo and is the leading figure in the celebration. She agrees to set a date for their marriage, after she hears from Ned that the horses will be recovered.
