"The principal dramatic interest in this Selig picture is the love story which it illustrates. There is the usual accompaniment of an unwilling father, a rejected lover, whom the father wants the girl to marry because he is rich, but the Yankee lieutenant outwits the whole set of Spaniards and marries the girl, succeeds in getting the police and the rest of the rescue party thrown into the water, while he escapes to his ship in a launch.
