When the film was first started in the fall off 1979 it was titled, "Aurat" and starred Rameshwari, Mithun Chakraborthy, Vijayendra Ghatge. The film saw delays for unknown reasons and the film's cast was changed. Then in 1981, Reena Roy, Jeetendra,Parikshat Sahni,Bindu and Pran were signed to be in the film. The film saw further financial delays the star cast was once again changed. Finally Rekha, Vinod Mehra and Vikram were signed. After shooting for 3 days, Rekha got Vikram thrown out of the film. Vikram vowed never to work with Rekha again. Rakesh Roshan was then signed for the role.
