"i had the chance to view getting out of rhode island earlier this year at the black point film festival (where it ended up a multiple winner in the awards cermony) and was quite surprised that such a small film provided me with one of my most enjoyable film experiences in recent memory. as an entirely improvised feature, apparently shot in one locale, i saw elements of the dogme school, altman, and cassevettes thrown into the chaos that unfolds over the course of the evening's events. a film tragic, and amusing, and hypnotic, i was exhausted by the time the last sheepish party guest left...."
