Lover&apos;s Concerto

Boring, dull, and unexciting.

This movie reminded me of Anthony&apos;s Desire, which I reviewed four years ago. It is another European artsy nudie that just is slow, monotonous, and insomnia inducing. Unlike Zalman King&apos;s work, there isn&apos;t that undercurrent of actual intelligent film-making here. It&apos;s basically as fun as watching paint dry.

The real reason the film is notable is because Shelley Michelle is in it. Michelle, the body double of Oscar-winning actresses, plays some actress whose plummeting career has her at the point of appearing in pornographic films. Still, the story is more about showing slow-moving sex scenes with looping music. It&apos;s just unwatchable. Maybe if it offered hilariously dubbed dialogue like those reruns of Latin Lover have; then it would be something.

Michelle does have an incredible figure, but alas, she is a butterface and the acting ability of the entire cast is nearly non-existent; as if it wasn&apos;t a necessity. If you need something to put you to sleep and this movie is airing on the tube, check it out posthaste. Otherwise, pass.

Not surprisingly her desire soon turns to reality as she enters a world full of sexual encounters which in turn brings a new energy to her dancing.
