A peculiar yet very fine short documentary on legendary samba composer/singer Noel Rosa (1910-1937). Featuring a couple of testimonies from people who knew the man, worked with him in many historical compositions in the early 20th century, or in the cause of Lindaura de Medeiros Rosa, who married the man.

Gilberto Santeiro&apos;s film doesn&apos;t revolve on the humored bohemian stories about Noel - there&apos;s a few of them - like many other documentaries about the artist usually like to show. This one has a unique view about his artistry, the music and the inspirations for his many compositions. He was the one that brought the samba genre from the black community, living in the hills of Rio de Janeiro, and made it accessible, popular and removing the prejudice factor of which the genre was associated in the early days.

&quot;Cordiais Saudações&quot; has a fragmented presentation of events about Noel Rosa, the interviews have some coherence but it&apos;s all too jumpy, very strange and confusing for those who want to know about the musician and his importance. Sound and cinematography work are amazing, considering the period in which was made, and along with many other shorts developed over the years about the artist it serves right as a great source material, research source and entertainment too. 7/10.
