""The Golden Sphere" is a low-budget comedy short, that takes well-worn story ideas and gives them a quirky overhaul. Director Kevin Powis shows some technical skill behind the camera, especially since he was an amateur at the time. The photography is better than a lot of other no-budget flicks, and promises much for the crew. The story of the film is slight, but it manages to entertain, thanks to the charm of its cast and the juvenile script by D.J. Nock, which refuses to take itself seriously. Special mention should go to Alec Sedgeley, whose turn as the drippy "Moose" is ..."

Director/Producer Kevin Powis originally met with co-producer Helen Knott and screenwriter David J. Nock to come up with a possible plotline, for what became 'The Golden Sphere'. After several stories were dropped, Nock and Powis opted for a plot which would make use of the local area, be filmed on a low budget and fit easily into a one week schedule. After conception, the script took four weeks to complete.
