Calumet "K" is a grain elevator in course of construction just outside of Chicago. The railroad fails to deliver lumber, there are mutterings of labor trouble, and altogether the man in charge is making but little progress. Therefore the contractors send a young man named Charles Bannon to finish up the job. Bannon finds things in pretty bad shape, and he gets the lumber delivered by a lake schooner. Next the labor troubles manifest themselves. There is a walking delegate who is out for graft and upon Bannon's refusal to "come across," he starts a strike. Bannon, in his straightforward way, lays the whole case before the president of the labor union, who is a broad-minded man and who starts an investigation. Suffice it to say that Bannon finishes the job and receives the congratulations of his men.
