"I have always been one to watch films that are deemed to be controversial. When I first heard about "Paradise Now" I was absolutely stunned that a film would even want to take on such a subject especially in times like these...in a time that is post-9/11. The film tells the story of two best friends Said (Kais Nashef, who has the most amazing eyes and intense presence) and Khaled (Ali Suliman, wonderful) who are chosen to perform the very task that is condemned to the rest of the world, but within terrorist extremists it is an honor: suicide bombing. They both make their suicide vide..."

💡 Did You Know?

When the film was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, much controversy surrounded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' decision to designate it as a submission from the Palestinian Authority, rather than Palestine. Due to much protestation from writer-director Hany Abu-Assad, the film was eventually announced by Will Smith as being a submission from the Palestinian territories.
