Warner Bros. Animation produced the first season in the United States through traditional hand-drawn animation. The voice cast came from Canada, with the exception of James Arnold Taylor voicing the main character. After production of season 1 ended, The WB Television Network, the channel on which the show initially aired, merged with UPN to create The CW Network (The CW), which resulted in budget cuts. Most of the crew was laid off and production resumed in Canada, with Cookie Jar Entertainment (later DHX Media) switching to Flash Animation from season 2 onward. Only the show's creator, Scott Fellows, and the voice cast from the first season continued to work on the series.
