"A study of the social bee and of the kind of honey that it makes. There is depth to it and its characters, conceived at first hand, are clearly drawn and stand out sharply. There is a weak man, a woman with a most unpleasant character and a good woman, and, in setting them in their lives, the author has done very little side-stepping from truth and actuality, little mixing of romantic slush.
