Up To The Gills In Immorality

This is one of the most confusing &amp; contrived episodes of the entire series (and Dallas was famous for contrived storylines): JR pimping his own wife just to acquire a refinery. Is this the refinery for Harwood Oil or the second refinery for Ewing Oil? Did the writers forget Ewing Oil already had a refinery? Did JR really believe slimy Gil Thurman would be swayed by exotic cuisine &amp; cultured conversation? In the past, JR has used a harem (uh hem) of prostitutes to cajole (or entrap) men to get what he wants. But in this episode, apparently he uses his wife. Totally out of character. What were the writers thinking? At least use Serena. And he was upset when his plan backfired? Ole JR should know better. Now, sleazy Gil Thurman may very well have made the decision after sampling all the goods but he most definitely would have chosen Afton over Sue Ellen. This subplot was bizarre to say the least.
