On screen, the masks can be seen in several shots with a description card giving one the name "The Thief". This is not a random piece of set dressing or fiction. The masks are real museum pieces, and their history is pretty much as Benton states it, except that they were reunited for an exhibition in 1975 not in the 1990s. The mask in the Canadian Museum of History is "The Thief", object VII-C-329 in the catalogue. The other mask is in a museum in Paris. The raven that appears throughout the episode is also part of the actual mythology of the masks.
