"For this series, "dreadful" can function as praise or reproach, and here it's shorthand for an epic washout. So bad, it's almost a parody of the vastly-overused dummy-controlling-the-ventriloquist horror trope. Toward the end, the dummy prop is clearly replaced by an actor, which fits the motif (utilized in the almost-as-bad "Wax Magic") of a cursed item with the power to bring an inanimate figure to life. Perhaps because of Billy Drago's wooden (to put it nicely) performance, Oscar's over-the-top voice acting quickly becomes overbearing. And, apparently..."
