💡 Did You Know?

After McGarrett questions the sensibility of having a woman as his driver, officer Wells mentions that General Dwight D. Eisenhower had a woman driver during World War II. This may seem like an odd thing to mention, but at the time of that show being broadcast, this information was a bit of a sensational media story, as the woman in question, Kay Summersby, had recently revealed in her autobiography that she and Eisenhower had been engaged in an extended affair during World War II. The story of Eisenhower and Summersby was made into a TV mini-series just a few years after this show, the title of which was Ike: The War Years (1979).
