"I absolutely love the message of this episode. It rings so true to high school. Jonathan and Mark are high school teachers. Jonathan is a substitute teacher and it's assumed Mark is too even though we never see what he does. Jonathan assigns an essay to his class that has Jack and Jenny in it.
