The case goes to the validity of her actions due to her feelings of threat. Jerry Orbach joins the team after Paul Sorvino wanted out. He will stay for a long, long time. First appearance of Jerry Orbach as Detective Lennie Briscoe, a role he'd play through the end of Season 14, appearing in a total of 274 episodes. Orbach also appears as Briscoe in Exiled (1998) (the movie about Logan after he is transferred to Staten Island), and also in three episodes each of Homicide: Life on the Street (1993) & Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), and one episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001). He also appeared in two episodes of Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005) after Briscoe retired from the NYPD and took a part-time position as a New York County District Attorney Investigator, which is a peace officer that conducts any additional investigation the DA's office needs after the police hand a case off to them.
